She Shall Lead Idea Hackathon

Without women, there is no social media. Period.

Women are nearly 60 percent of participants on some social networks but are sadly underrepresented in leadership in business, or in panel discussions, or events. This must change.

How? At 6:30 p.m. on June 27-28, 2012, Social Media News NY (facebook.com/smnny) will convene a unique “idea hack” combining an in-person conversation and workshop with a virtual real-time live stream and social media community to create action points and take-away strategies for women in social media leadership as well as great networking event to meet one another and cultivate meaningful relationships with women active on social media.

An “idea hack” is part conference, part workshop, part networking with a panel discussion and a virtual and in-person workshop that will form six teams to brainstorm and decide on action plans to enable/empower/promote women as leaders in social media.

The event starts on Wednesday night at Ogilvy HQ on the West Side (636 11th Avenue), and finishes up with a fun no-cover networking #LadiesSocial at Two E Bar/Lounge in The Pierre, A Taj Hotel, from 6:30 pm-9:30 pm on Thursday, June 28.

Each will engage and compel in a fast-paced interactive presentation. After this, the audience (online and in-person) will divide into small groups to interact and brainstorm for a half hour followed by a debriefing session and networking. The panel will then present each group’s key action points.

Thursday's Details

On Thursday night, Social Media News NY and the #SheShallLead panel will host The Pierre’s third annual “social” in honor of Mashable’s #SocialMediaDay.

At 7:00pm, the #SheShallLead panel will recap the top action points developed at the Idea Hackathon, which will be followed by cocktails and networking. The best part is, if you blog, Facebook, tweet, or pin about the “#LadiesSocial” networking event in Two E Bar/Lounge, you can print it out and present it at the door for a complimentary Famous Lady Cocktail. They are also drawing business cards every half hour to give away complimentary items from Two E Bar/Lounge’s delicious summer menu!
